Fulfilling the promise
Abdullah ibn
Abul Hamsa has said: "I bought something from the Prophet (SAW) before he
recieved his prophetic commission, and as there was something still due to him
I promised him I would bring it
to him at
his place, but I forgot. When I remembered three days later, I went to that
place and found him there. He said, "You have vexed me, I have been here
three days waiting for you." (Abu Dawood)
Question:
The hadith tells us about the importance of fulfilling the promises but the
question is that is that the person who made the promise that he would come
back with the remaining amount is the person
who borrowed
it, not the Prophet (SAW). Had the Prophet (SAW) moved from his place, how
would it break the promise of the Prophet (SAW)?
Answer: When Abdullah
said he would come back to give him the remaining amount, Rasulullah (s.a.w)
replied OK. Which means he also made a promise that he would wait for him to
come back and give him the remaining amount. and that's th epromise which
Rasulullah (s.a.w) didn't want to break.
